At Proactive Engineering Consultants West, we like to think we bring precision, speed, and efficiency to every project we tackle. But recently, we decided to put those principles to a different kind of test on a racetrack, behind the wheel of high-speed go-karts.
We took a break from our desks and headed over to K1 Speed for a day of adrenaline-pumping team building, friendly rivalry, and a whole lot of laughs.
The Race Breakdown: Precision Meets Throttle
These weren’t your average backyard go-karts. Pushing speeds of up to 55 mph, these electric karts required real focus and line-tracing skills. Naturally, our team of engineers approached the track with a mix of strategy, competitive spirit, and raw horsepower.
The format for the day kept everyone on their toes:
- Round 1: The Qualifier. We had 10 minutes on the track to lay down our absolute fastest single lap time. It was all about finding the racing line and pushing the karts to their limits with Craig laying down the fastest lap in the company.
- Round 2: The Main Event. Drivers were seeded into races based on their best lap times from Round 1. With similar speeds pinned against each other, the action got intense fast!
Podium Finishes & On-Track Drama
After the checkered flag waved and the tire smoke cleared, three drivers stood tall on the podium:
- 1st Place: Mike
- 2nd Place: Julian
- 3rd Place: Elijah
Congrats to Mike for taking home the top spot, and to Julian and Elijah for putting up an incredible fight!
Post-Race Pit Stop: Lunch & Banter
No team event is complete without a post-race debrief over lunch—and the stories were off the charts.
The highlight of the conversation? Shelby casually running Craig off the track, a maneuver that will surely be brought up in office meetings for months to come. We also discovered that our team has two distinct driving styles: a few drivers operated like they were in a full-blown action movie, while others took a more scenic, “relaxed Sunday drive” approach.
Why It Matters
Building great projects starts with building great relationships. Stepping away from our day-to-day work to race, laugh, and connect reminds us how strong (and delightfully competitive) our team really is.
